UTM TOASTMASTER’S CLUB

The English Language Unit (UBI), Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) in collaboration
with the Toastmasters International has set up a Toastmasters Club in UTM. The club, known as the
UTM Toastmasters Club, has 30 members consisting of academic and non-academic staff. For those
unfamiliar with this organization, Toastmasters is one of the largest organized systems of personal
development in the world. It focuses on public speaking and leadership skills. The organization
has over 200 000 members in over 90 countries worldwide. The UTM Toastmasters Club held its first meeting in January 2009 and the members will meet once a fortnight on Tuesdays.  The main aim of the club is to provide ample opportunities for its members to practice Public Speaking skills and leadership skills.
